UNC-Chapel Hill Receives Grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to Help Child Care Bring Fresh and Local Foods to Children 03/13/2018

New resources for child care providers from the nationally recognized Go NAPSACC program will incorporate the elements of farm-to-table eating starting in March 2018. Researchers with UNC Chapel Hill’s Children’s Healthy Weight Research Group will be expanding resources in their interactive web-based platform known as Go NAPSACC. Since its inception, Go NAPSACC has been used to address breastfeeding and infant feeding, child nutrition, physical activity, outdoor play and learning, screen time, and oral health. Farm to ECE (Early Care and Education) is a natural extension of the existing resources.

In a partnership with experts in public health and pediatric dentistry, Go NAPSACC takes aim at one of the most common chronic diseases in young children: tooth decay. Tooth decay is harmful to children’s health, wellbeing, and ability to learn. Go NAPSACC announced today the launch of a new suite of tools designed to give state and regional administrators as well as child care technical assistance (TA) consultants tools to more effectively support child care providers in improving their programs’ nutrition and physical activity environments. The new tools make it easier than ever for administrators and TA consultants to guide, track, and report on the progress of their child care programs using the Go NAPSACC Toolkit.
